Allied armour

Post by schutzen »

Here are my two pieces of allied armour. A halftrack, unmodified straight out the box apart from addition of weathering grime and an r/c Tamiya (non smoke and sound) Sherman easy eight which has had metal hull strenghtening, hatches opened, metal lifting loops added and some other work plus several coats of paint and stencilled stars. Metal track was made from individual pieces - a finger breaking exercise. Figures on the Sherman were not made by me.

Wow, great looking vehicles. I like the weathering effects. Well done...

Thanks. The dark olive green star was painted over the white star by Sherman crews in the European theatre in the later years of WWII to make the turret less of a target!

Looking good. I have that very same Sherman. I was going to sell it to pay for a multi function pack , but after seeing yours i may keep it. Are the extra parts from the full option kit or scratchbuilt?

Thanks. Some items were upgrade parts (Schumo internal reinforcement plates, periscope guards, rear luggage carrier), lifting hoops and studs around the mantlet were scratch built. Glazing around the commander cupola cut out from old 35mm transparency film stock to create glazing. Bolt on track armour from additional plastic track.
