The Bovington Museum Panther G.
Howdy boys,
Does anyone out there happen to have some top view pics of the Bovington Panther? I'm looking to see the camo pattern as it crests on top of the turret. I'm not sure if the dark yellow bands carry up and over the turret or if they meet in the center. Any info would be appreciated, maybe some of you who have had the privilage to visit such a fine museum would be able to clarify the actual color codes for that paint job? I'm tracking the Red Oxide base but are the camo bands Dark yellow with a buff exterior band or something altogether different.
Thanks in advance boys...
Derek

Make that 2 of us Red Devils.
I have been meaning to get some details of the weld lines and how the top plate attaches to the upper deck on Panther Gs. Most of the Panther G walkaround pics are shot at ground level. Granted, taking top view pics of panthers in museums such as the Bovington panther might not be allowed as this means the photog would have to climb the tank to take the shot, I was thinking areas that are not too strict (such as outdoor exhibits like the Aberdeen Panther G) might allow this kind of shot to be taken.

Derek,
Don't know if this would help but I do have a top view of the Panther G in the German Army Technical Evaluation Centre which as you can see has a very similar scheme as the Bovington one (Well the turret anyway......)

I'm fairly sure this is a Panther G at Bovington, but i'm not sure if it is the tank you mean. The video also does not show the top of the turret (as MichaelC said unless you have special permission it is unlikely you would be able to clamber on the tank to take pics), but it does at points give you some idea of how the pattern on the top of the hull deck flows which I imagine would be closeto the top of the turret.

Re: The Bovington Museum Panther G.
Thanks guys for all the info, much appreciated. Now my issue is, was it authentic and no one can verify a unit. I read on a few of the other modeling sites and the net, Network54 as an example, that this was just a paint scheme that the Bovington Museum guessed on. Oh but it is so pretty but oh I like authenticity.
Thanks again...

Derek,
My understanding is that Bovington basically guessed like you said. It was not based on the original when they received it or any specific historical ones.
