TAIGEN 2.4GHZ MFU COMPATIBILITY

Post by MAGS »

Hi, I currently have a modified heng long tiger, taigen lower chassis ,metal wheels, tracks, metal barrel with recoil.
I was thinking of upgrading the mfu to the new taigen 2.4ghz unit , I wondered if anyone could tell me if it is worth doing and if it would be possible to bind the taigen unit to a spektrum dx6i transmitter ? Cheers.

Hi MAGS,

the binding of a Taigen with another transmitter is not possible except to aigen itself

A Taigen is better than a RX18, but not much in my opinion. Whether it makes sense depends on the own claim to what the armor and the Elektrionik able to.

Like Edwin has said you need to use the Taigen controller with the MFU and doesn't offer much extra over the RX18. Here's a few other options

RC2HL (from RC Tank Australia)
Basically this replaces the HL radio receiver and allows you to use a better radio like the DX6i.

DBC (David's Battle Unit)
This again replaces the HL radio receiver and allows better radio use etc. Plus adds features like momentum, turn off super spin, adds Tamiya compatible IR.

Clark TK20 or TK22
This completely replaces the HL RX18 adds great sounds, Tamiya IR system, decent hobby grade radio. Loads of customable settings (via a remote and IR battle unit).

IBU2 (Italian Battle Unit)
As above but customisable sounds. i.e. you can change them to what ever tank you want or even create your own using a computer.

SLU
As the Clark above but with tank specific sounds on it. And requires tank rewiring (others use HL plugs)

ElMod
Like IBU2 above but requires some rewiring

Tamiya
Pretty much the bench mark others aim to achieve.

So depending on what your after, want to spend, or ability to rewire all depends on your choice.

Hi Tankbear,

There are a few more controls now. This segment has expanded considerably in the last year.
I myself do not use diesr controls more. I drive controllers that I mix on the transmitter. The tower turning I control with a micro controller and the sound and all other functions I control a sound module Beier. That gives you more possibilities, especially with Brushless, it is not as prone to failure like many other controls and slightly cheaper.
