Yes you can dispense with the small square connector and connect the wires directly, as the connector is mainly to connect the pump motor resistors to the rest, but as Pathfinder said it won't work as well without the pump running, the fan is a booster so not intended to be the sole means of working the smoker without a lot of alteration.

tanker send a pic. Also, is it proportional smoker ? When I fitted my proportional smoker I found out that the pump and the fan barely moves if the motors is not running. I guess the fan is drawing additional power so unless the motors are loaded the smoker won't even start......

hi michaelc its a non proportional unit it works ok in my kv 1 , have even swaped them round but its just not working in the pzr 1v , i wonder iff i have a fault in the rx 18 , but every thing ealse works ok , as the pump motor stoped on the old unit before i fitted the fan ? & the fan works ok on the outher units so no problems with the fan . tanker 242

tanker this is all pretty straight forward wiring. I guess try it without the fan to make sure it is not a dud first and then go from there.

Did you turn the smoker switch on in the panzer IV ? You might have fired the RX-18 then on the panzer IV perhaps.
