Train Tracks & other materials

I'm trying to put together a few materials for a couple of 1/16th diorama bases and haven't a clue how big the tracks should be... I'm not about to spend £30 on a single track piece either, especially when I have wood to err, play with

I have a few ideas for the signal box and oil drum, and I'm going to try making a brick mould, but the tracks I'm stuck on... Help please!
