2mm rod
A long time ago I needed 2mm metal rod but it was the weekend, so I searched around the kitchen but no joy, my lady who cares very little for my obsession ( her word ) asked what I was looking for, when I told her, she said why not try a coat hanger? Of course she was right and I have never bought 2mm rod since. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone

Re: 2mm rod
Great tip Shaun.
Another option is garden wire for supporting plants etc. comes covered in green plastic but can either leave plastic on or strip off and gives you two different diameters. Quite soft to shape so maybe not suitable for larger detail work.
Here's it's with plastic cover on

Here striped
