Hi doombar,
Welcome to the forum
Most guys feel that the Heng Long Tiger 1 is a good starting point, not to pricey and plenty of upgrades, I only have Tamiya tanks so can't really comment on the Heng Long tanks but I'm sure you will get some more advice.

Welcome to the forum doombar,
You would probably get more replies to your question if you posted it in the Quick Questions board as not everybody reads introduction threads. You can find the board here: http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... .php?f=195
Enjoy!

Re: newbie
welcome in bud. hope you enjoy the forums. basicly tamiya are very good and expensive. Heng Long are fairly cheap and cheerfull but easy to upgrade and not to hard on the pocket if you decide you dont like the hobby.

Re: newbie
Just to add to Jeff's comments, Tamiya tanks come in kit form, so have to be built, where as Heng Long are pre assembled and ready to go. A 4 channel RC transmitter/reciever would work with both not sure if Heng Long come with the RC gear but Tamiya do not.streetfighterjeff wrote:welcome in bud. hope you enjoy the forums. basicly tamiya are very good and expensive. Welcome to the forum mate
Asking a question which tank to buy first is like asking what's the best car ever. Just so much opinion.
To add to the comments above the Heng Long comes ready to run it only needs 8 AA batteries for the controller. Like Sparks has said the HL Tiger is a great cheap tank to start with (I did and now have 7 tanks!) that way you get a feel for the hobby, more find it very addictive but as with any thing is not always for everyone.
Ian.
