Re: New to model tanks chappie.
Thanks scooby.
: Am I supposed to give a sort of descriptive profile of myself here, or is there a special section for that? I'm not that much of a computer buff so I'll probably ask loads of seemingly obvious questions just like that one.

Re: New to model tanks chappie.
Well just a brief note. I joined the Junior Leaders Regt RAC in'57. Then at 18 I was posted to 5RTR at Catterick.
Most of my service was then in BAOR at Fallingbostel.
Still a big kid at heart, so now we are two, with my young grandson in tow.

Re: New to model tanks chappie.
So you had dealings with mk 4 Centurians, this should be a walk across Sennelager for you then, Welcome to the madhouse, a lot of people who will have answers to all your questions are right here,. This hobby (our wives call it something else) is about as engrossing and fun as anything you will come across, but it comes with a warning, It can get expensive and there are some people who will try to rip you off, scroll down to the approved vendors site and you will discover helpful, knowledgeable dealers who will improve your new hobby but scroll down to the blacklisted area and you will find a list of people who want your money and they add aggravation at no extra cost. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone
Re: New to model tanks chappie.
Thanks for the useful tips Shaun, and the warnings too.
We did 'schemes' hither and thither in Germany, but as I had been recruited by Recce Troop I was deployed mainly on border patrols in a ferret scout car.
Initially though I was trained at Catterick, Bourlon LInes, as a Dvr. AFV tracked on Centurions.
No more boring old stuff from me, as it's the model aspect I wish to encourage for myself and my youngest grandson.
