Taigen Tiger 1 Full Metal RX18 with Lipo - Wiring change ?

Hello fellow Tankers,

Maybe you can help me out, I recently purchased a 2.4Ghz Taigen Full metal upgrade Tiger 1 with RX18 onboard.

I have a few 2S2P 40C 5000 mah Lipo's from other RC stuff and I have been reading on this forum that is should be possible to directly connect the 7.4 V lipo to this 7.2 V RX18 system.

But there is one thing I cannot find and that is :

Do I have to change the thickness of the electric wires or can I directly use it on the OEM wiring and is it necessary or advisable to attach a fuse in between the RX 18 and the Lipo ?
