I finally got around to putting together a quick review and photos of said tank.
First impressions is that it is a heavy beast! It comes with metal tracks, metal sprockets and idlers, metal running wheels, metal suspension and metal shackles. The suspension has a reasonable amount of suspension, but I can't tell if it is too soft or not. I suppose I'll find out once I install a metal hull in the future.
The finish is pretty good and comes in a, I feel, pretty attractive paint scheme. I'm happy with it as it is, but time will tell how good it is with use. On close inspection the two colours do not edge together cleanly but rather merge together. Some may like that, some may not. I do. All in all the detail is pretty good and it comes with the towing cables and barrel cleaning rods attached to it already. The rest is for your enjoyment to attach.
It drives like every other stock tank, two speeds forward. It can climb over some quite high obstacles, which is far better than my Panzer 4 can manage.
With the speak volume turned to minimum it is a pretty noisy thing but I suppose they all are. The turret traverse is really loud for what is a small motor. I guess it could be down to the space inside the hull and the echoing. With the sound turned up it is a pretty meaty sounding thing. An improvement over the older generation, but still not high quality. I've seen on here that people like the new MG sounds. I don't myself. It isn't in keeping with the tank. It sounds like it has a 30mm Bushmaster as a coaxial!
Now for the disappointing part- the gun. It's over 30cm, looks the business, but fires like utter crap. The air soft unit is hideous. It misfired a lot or anything it do propel merely flopped out of the muzzle. Hardly 88-esque. I pulled it out and took it apart and found the the O-ring was facing the wrong way around. The tapered end was facing into the barrel and providing a poor seal. I have turned it around and the the gun shoots better when it doesn't miss fire. It doesn't have the power of the Panzer 4 (that stings!) but then I am mindful that I am using high quality .25g BB's at the moment until I can afford some .20g's. The ones that come with the tank are rubbish. I've binned mine. The quality of the barrel internally is poor. It's quite pitted. I have given it a clean out but it still isn't brilliant. When I can get my hands on my rifle cleaning kit I'll give it another, proper try. On a plus side, (Whey there is one!) the barrel is made from one piece of metal. Sadly though I don't think there is space to fit a tightbore inside it unless you are a ninja on a lathe.
