Fitting recoil unit

Post by Rocketman »

Hi Guys

Finally getting back into the hobby and thought Id start off with something "easy" and get a Tiger 1 back in the collection. Bought a recoil unit from Welsh Dragon Models(great service by the way chaps) and they kindly just sent over a pdf instruction but the resolution is so bad its not a lot of help. Does anyone else have instructions or can they walk me through fitting?

Many thanks

I fitted couple of these in my tanks a while ago so this is just from memory. If you can post a pic with all the leads that would help. For sure the thick red one needs to goto power source, I think most people connect it to the power switch directly. I believe there is a blue and a white that is suppose to connect up to the on/off switch for the BB function in the cupola, if you don't need that you can just short those together, or take one out and solder the other one to the lead. The elevation motor wires are pretty straight forward, you just need to find the elevation motor, and take those two to the stock HL elevation motor leads and +/- doesn't matter. The only thing left is the recoil motor and the microswitch wires I believe, and think there is two for the motor itself (again, similar to the elevation motor, just solder it to the stock HL BB motor leads) and the microswitch needs to goto the trigger (This part I have to think about and maybe look at some pics).

The pdf instructions aren't just poor quality - they are misleading because they're aimed at the old RX15 circuit board. For the RX18 no change to the handset is necessary...

Please see my mid-production Normandy Tiger 1 post for my walk-through of the installation:

Thanks, I'm sure I'll be back begging for help once I start but this is a big help!
