Chunwai Challenger 2

Post by Sydney »

Well I ordered the Chunwai 1/8th scale Challenger 2 from Hong Kong at the end of July.
I received a monthly build progress report with pictures. It all look really good.
It was dispatched by Hong Kong post on December 12th and arrived at Brampton,Ontario in
Canada exactly 4 days later.(Thats what you called speedy!!).Have not received it yet as i had to get
DHL Canada to act as a customs broker. It takes DHL 72 hours to process the large package( it is about
65KG in weight) and then a further 5to8 days for delivery.....office beaurocratic nonsense at its best!,
and trying to phone these twits is really frustrating, you know,"All agents are busy" or press one for
this and press 2 for that, and then you end up at the main menu!. Managed to finally get to speak to someone(who I could hardly understand) and confirmed all nescessary information concerning duty, taxes
etc.so the bottom end is the thing took 4 days to get to Canada, and its going to take about another
10 days to reach me, but that is ok, it took 4 months to build the tank from scratch,so i can wait
10 days.
The service from Chunwai models is so far excellent, with lots of progress pictures etc,I am
getting the full option kit with smoke, and sound. I will have to buy the two 12volt 12 amp
batteries when it gets here.

Hi Sydney,
Please can you post plenty of photos of the Tank when it arrives ?......
It Really IS amazing how much Bureaucracy can add to a simple process !!! ...They probably think that you are 'People-Smuggling' the box is so big.......I will make no comment about the person that you spoke to on the phone though.... :eh: ....Does the Canadian government use 'call-centres' I wonder and are THEY actually based in Canada ?.... :haha:

Say what? 72 hours to process? 5 to 8 days days for delivery? Fire DHL someone there is pulling your chain. I regularly get packages containing tank products from China and Germany, and it doesn't take me no 72 hours to clear customs and get delivery. If you want the name of a good customs broker send me a PM, it may be too late for this one but man someone is not doing their job.

Seriously keep the posts on that tank coming, I am very interested in seeing it.

Hi Sydney,

I am also looking into purchasing the 1/8 scale "Challenger 2" extra armored such as yours from the same folks. I read your comments and wondered how the tank is working out, now that you've had it for awhile. If you can give me further update on the performance and quality of the tank I would deeply appreciate your comments. Any pictures would be great!

Thank you!

Happy Tanking!
