Clark TK20 board

Post by emmasdad »

Firstly, let me state I have no connection to Clark models or Immortal Hobbies other than as a satisfied customer.

Ordered the Clark TK20 board from Curtis at Immortal hobbies in Canada (I'm UK based) took 8 days to get here by Airmail, not bad considering the distance.

Well, fitted the unit in 15 mins, power up and.........nothing, zilch, nada. No power to the RX. Emailed Curtis for help, he kindly replied within a couple of mins with a solution. Won't bore you with the detail, suffice to say it was my fault, the unit was up and running within mins.....

I am using the Taigen upgrade speaker and the sounds are absolutely awesome. Proportional to engine speed.......fantastic. I can only imagine how good it would sound with a better speaker (any recommendations guys)

Movement of the barrel elevation and turret rotation are also proportional to stick movement. No more annoying cycling through barrel elevation. No more ridiculous HL hull shuffle with the gun firing.....just a very subtle rock.

To say I am pleased with this unit is an understatement. Bearing in mind the purchase price, IMHO the TK20 represents excellent value for money, and kicks the stock HL or Taigen 2.4 upgrade into the "long grass" for quality. Yes, you have to supply your own RX-TX, but hey I'm using a £25 2.4ghz set that I use with my Warships, no big deal in my case.

Service provided by Curtis, second to none, please be assured of my continued custom in future, thanks fella much appreciated...... a credit to the hobby.
Take care...... Gary

Good to hear you got it all working Gary.

I've bought mine direct from Clark models wasn't aware could buy from elsewhere. So will check out immortal as ive heard quite a few people giving glowing customer service.

Speaker wise I use Visaton Fr7 4 ohm with a custom made speaker box. Best price I found is here

Thanks Ian, yes its working great and, thanks for the link. The only thing now is to get the servo recoil done, as I have the asiatam recoil unit fitted to my T1 and it isn't working with the TK20....no big deal. Yes I agree the service from Immortal Hobbies (Curtis) is 1st class, from my experience nothing is too much bother, send an email and - ping - its replied to in no time.

Yeah same here with the asiatam recoil I couldn't get it working. Even tried changing the tk20 settings but no luck. Ended up removing it and putting a cut down HL recoil in with the servo which needs a bit more work to look right.

OK, how do you change the settings mate, ive read through the instructions but alas I cant understand how to do it. Something to do with a Sony TV remote.

Gary it depends on your setup i.e. if you have IR setup or not.

Basically you need to have a Tamiya compactable mushroom reciever connected. Then you add a jumper to the recoil servo port switch power on, then point the Sony TV remote at the mushroom and press button as per instructions and the hit indicators flashes a number of times to represent the setting now programmed.

If you don't have IR setup the above becomes difficult. But is still possible, you need one of these HL IR kits Image
cut off the IR emitter and replace with a colour LED and hay presto a cheap Tamiya compactable mushroom  admittidly not as good as the Tamiya specially with range and sensitivity but works all the same.

Nah the default settings are ok. To be fair the settings are 90% for the IR side so you wouldn't have much to change.
