How do

Post by Kye »

Hello!

I got myself a Taigan Panzer IV a few months back. I was unsure whether to get one or not and decided to go for. I've never had so much fun with something R/C before! I've been looking around this forum and the internet in general and had no idea just how customisable these tanks can be! I have certainly found a new hobby now! Pay day next week, the Taigen King Tiger will be added to the collection then. ;)

Oh KYE you must not give in so easyley, fight this madness that has gripped everyone on this forum. But if you cannot resist then a warm welcome to what you have become to apprieciate is a great hobby. If you are going to uprate your MK1V then I would urge that the first thing you do is go to the vendors site and check through the approved list, these are tried and tested dealers who can be relyed upon to save you money and help you to get the best from your project, on the other hand there is the list of dealers you are advised to avoid, although at least one of these I have dealt with and had very good service, but in general if you give these a miss you will at the least save yourself a frayed temper, If you have helpful advice we would love to hear it but some of us are pretty smart so if you want to know anything please ASK. shaun

hello kye welcome to the forum
i also have just got a taigen panzer 4 ( very nice it is too )
if yours is the same as mine it will have metal suspension & tracks but plastic wheels.
i've been advised by the good people on here to get metal idlers, sprockets & an adjustable track tensioner.
also the gearbox, although metal is the inferior white metal one.
which i'm not keen on & don't expect to last long
have fun dude

It was your post, Lister that made me go an check all that. All of those bits will be ordered as and when they come available :)

I also want to upgrade the gearbox to either a 3:1 or 4:1 ration. Which presents a couple of questions:

1.) Which is the better ratio? (I guess both slow the tank down, give it more pulling power and better speed control?)
2.) Which brand to go for. I see Taigen and Asiatam do them.

This is going to be a very expensive hobby! :)

Thanks guys

I now own a Taigen King Tiger. It's a very nice, heavy bit of kit! Although the airsoft is appalling on it (nothing remotely close to the power of my PIV), but I intend to look into it and fix it tonight. I'll post a review of the tank with photos and list my findings if anyone is interested in that?
