Tiger electronics malfunction

Post by EddyK »

Good evening, guys! I've purchased HL Tiger with smoke+sound. I gave it as a gift to my son for New Year. But we had some problem - when tank starts, it goes for 15 seconds, then it loses smoke and sound effects and lights start blinking, but tank goes on for more 15 seconds. Then it stops and I had to start it again. I tested all power wire joints and replace chrystals, spread connectors on chrystals and power wire conections. But without any results... :( :( :(
What could be possible problem and solution?
Thanks!

When this happens to me it is usually the battery not juiced up. If you are using the stock HL it takes a long time to charge it up. If not maybe faulty battery ? Trying turning off the smoke and see if it helps or make it run a little longer.

Normally flashing lights indicates flat battery. If signal is lost the lights normally stay solid so wouldn't think it is transmitter or receiver issue.

If your happy battery is fine maybe there is a wiring short and is shutting down to protect itself. Maybe in turn unplug something and see if last longer than 15 seconds to give a clue of the problems area.

What Ian said would be your best bet, although I would still try to get a proper charger if you don't have one already. Try unplugging things one at a time on the RX-18 or whatever the circuit board you have and see if the same thing happens. Obviously you will need to keep the receiver board plug in.

I just realized that I have the exact same problem two weeks ago with my Tiger I but it was the Taigen 2.4Ghz (Not RX-18/HL electronics) and it turn out to be the faulty Taigen MFU. If memory serves me right it was pretty well exactly the same thing:

1. Starts with no problem.
2. Sound and smoke goes
3. Main light start flashing
4. Tank is still on (if you move the controller the tank will move)
5. Completely dies after 15s or so

If this is exactly what you have which I think it is, your MFU is probably dying and will start doing even crazier things soon. Sorry about this....... Too much turkey over the holidays.

Thanks everyone for help! So I just now finished testing the RX-18 - I took it out of the Bulldog and placed it in the Tiger, 10-15 minutes I drove a tank and everything was in perfect order. Then I insert back the previous RX-18 and again after a few seconds the sound and the smoke disappeared, but a little later Tiger stopped. :( So I am sure that fault is at RX-18 ...
