Asiatam Recoil for HL Tiger

Post by tony1955 »

Sorry to be a complete electronics dunce, but can anyone help me with the wiring for a recoil/flash unit please?
on my photo,

I assume 2 goes to the R/X 18 - cn3.
I guess 4 goes to a black wire on the main on/off switch
I dont have any idea where 1 goes
and 3 either goes to the on/off switch in the turret or just gets soldered together?

is any of that correct?

Thanks chaps.

PS, do I need to chop out some of the plastic inside the turret at the front where the bb load tray sits?

Believe me, I didn't find it easy either!

You can find the outcome of my struggles in my Normandy Tiger post:

Blimey, I got it to work. it all just plugged in, except the red wire and the two little blue and white wires, which needed a bit of solder. Only thing is it recoils and flashes, but doesnt return on to its starting position till you push the stick up - is this right?

That thick red wire (4 in picture) connect to the battery negative and that will get the barrel to return to starting point automatically.

I attached it to one of the black motor wires, is that not right then?

LOL never expect the colour of wires in your heng long to follow logic.

Basically it needs to connect to a constant negative supply.

Hi Guys, Recently purchased same recoil from Welsh Dragon ,fitting no problem but again wiring although seeming straight forward , is a bit harem scarem! Large plug would appear to go to empty cn3 socket ,red wire to negative and two small blue /white wires joined. That leaves a small three pin plug with red/black wires. Wary of connecting to rx18 as it could fit in a couple of places.....cn2/cn3. Any help most appreciated. Cheers.

If you look at the standard RX-18 diagram the cable from the 3 PIN plug should correspond to the small 6 point patch board that connects the elevation motor (+/-) and the gun motor return I believe. In the standard HL tanks this is soldered so you cannot easily detach the upper hull from the lower hull. With the 3 PIN plug you can just dis-connect if you need to separate the upper and lower hull.

If you look at my Normandy Tiger 1 post you will see my own trials and tribulations with this recoil unit - but it can be made to work!

And no, you don't need to chop up anything - unless you have moved the turret ring...

Good luck!
