Hi Guys,
Ive had my HL Tiger pro now for a month, and after initial teething problems its running great. I plan to do some minor cosmetic upgrades (recoiling barrel, paint, engine grilles etc) to it over the winter. Now im already planning on increasing my arsenal - a HL King tiger. Is it worth getting the pro version or just getting the smoke and sound one? is the smoke and sound version using RX18? How does the HL King Tiger fair in the accuracy stakes?
Thanks
Tony

Re: Bitten by the tank bug
Hi Tony,
Glad your Tiger is sorted and given you the tank bug (there is no cure
)
I don't have a King Tiger so can't comment. As for going pro version or not is up to you, generally with the pro version you'll get metal tracks, drive sprocket and gearboxes. If you like metal tracks it is probably worth it as upgrading to metal tracks afterwards could cost £40-60 anyway so the extra cash for the por version pays for itself.
RX18 has been around for last few years so any S&S or pro version tank you buy new should have it. Heng Long only released the King Tiger late last year so that will have the RX18 (unless HL done something daft to make me eat those words
). Basically the history of electronics in the heng long tanks are
1) Non smoke and sound version (often have a progammable/demo mode) comes in a black box. Unless you are getting tank died cheap and are ok resoldering wiring try avoid.
2) smoke & sound (or called S&S) comes in white box and fitted with RX13. This has all functions as RX18 except IR battle, even sound quality is better than RX18.
3) smoke & sound (or called S&S) comes in white box and fitted with RX14. This has all functions as RX18 except IR battle, even sound quality is better than RX18.
4) smoke & sound (or called S&S) comes in white box and fitted with RX18. Option of IR factory fitted or DIY for £15
As for fitting recoil to your Tiger there is a couple of options available Asiatam/Taigen gives more realistic recoil, the standard HL is cheaper and basically swap the airsoft (both routes you need a complete metal barrel) but operates the wrong way
this can be moddified so works correctly but I know a few people who have tried it and struggled.
Hope that helps you.
Ian.
PS did you go for the RC2HL adaptor?

Re: Bitten by the tank bug
Hi Ian,
Thanks for all the info on the Heng Long pedigree. Its certainly given me food for thought, whether to go pro or not. At the moment im leaning towards the cheaper option as I can afford it.
As for gun recoil I was going for the asiatam from welshdragon. Is it difficult to fit?
Thanks
Tony

Re: Bitten by the tank bug
Depends on how competent you are. The instructions are useless, wiring confuses most people (the instruction refer to different colour wires and older electronics to confuse you) and I found the mounting holes wasn't in correct place so needed redrilling to align correctly. Apart from that it's a walk in the parktony1955 wrote: As for gun recoil I was going for the asiatam from welshdragon. Is it difficult to fit?

TBH loads of people have fitted them so plenty of people to help and give advise if you get stuck. When fitted it works good, specially with the high intensity flash unit

I did a Tiger build earlier this year so will find that and add link so you can see pictures of the unit etc.

Re: Bitten by the tank bug
Thanks Ian, Its nice to have a safety net if the going gets tough. At the moment Ive decided against the RC2HL adapter, the HL R/C stuff seems to work ok (if it aint broke don't fix it is my attitude), so its just a matter of putting in an internal aerial, to get rid of the whippy wire effort.

Re: Bitten by the tank bug
Hi tony.
I purchased a heng long kt with Porsche turret
2 weeks ago ( standard One)
It's only been run round the lawn for an hour or so,
So far. Thank you British weather!
But so far so good.
I should point out its my first tank, so nothing
To compare with but I'm very happy
With it.
Good luck on what ever you go with.

The King Tiger arrived today. Im very happy with it, the plastic tracks are fine. Now I have another to run around, the Tiger 1 can go into the workshop and become a modelling project.
