HELP please HL BB to IR conversion

Anybody out there done a conversion of a Tiger 1 and Pershing HL BB firing, to HL IR battle system using the HL kit? My Brother and I are newbies and have these two tanks, Taigen upgraded versions and purchased two of the HL IR battle systems (wiring, emitter and receiver). We thought it would be a simple matter of plug and play into the RX18's on each tank. We installed both systems and tanks running all functions perfectly, but nothing seems to be happening on the IR side. We have not installed the cannon flash and wanted to get the IR working first before splashing out more cash. Please can anybody help us sort this out as we are stuck.

It is plug and play, but if your using the airsoft make sure it is turned on. Also with a digital camera you should be able to see the IR emitter flash white for a second or so, that way can check if firing at least.

But i suspect it is the airsoft switch

The IR emitter should light up when firing even without the mushroom receiver plugged in so oonce you've proved your not firing blanks and if still not working can look elsewhere.

Thanks we will try that as well. However emitters on both tanks don't seem to be firing. Strange? I could understand if it was only one failure, but two is too much of a coincidence, must be something we are doing wrong. This has to be something really simple and something silly we are doing wrong. Any ideas no matter how off the wall are welcome, we are newbies but I would have thought even this would be ok for us to get right.

I have done the conversion of a Panther which is relatively the same and really this upgrade is not plug and play.
Like all manufacturers in this hobby HL does a poor job with instructions so you are left to your own devices to figure things out. Come to think of it I have yet to see any half decent instructions anywhere in this hobby. Hopefully that changes because our hobby won't grow without it.
the best instructions I have seen are from a site where they talk about the conversion from an RX13 baord to an RX18 board.
Read the instructions but you can ignore all of this until they say the RX18 is completed, then they talk about adding an IR system, its for a different type of tank but they are all relatively alike. this is the best I have seen out there and I think some searching will yield better results.

Are you still getting the fire sound and track recoil?

Also are you shooting with lest stick up or the k button?

When I'm next on my computer I link some pictures to see if you've plugged in the correct ports of the rx18

Ian, I appreciate the help, thank you. Yes we are still getting all the tanks original functions including fire sound and track recoil. We have tried both the normal left stick up and the K button. We have also checked out the wiring and the only thing we can think of next is replacing the IR led's. However we can't believe that both IR sets have the same problem, anybody come across this before? I suppose we could end up replacing piece by piece if we dont find the issue quickly and could cost a fortune. I suppose our question is, why is anybody selling these products without instructions, or is that the nature of the hobby?

You say you've got taigen tanks? Is it with the new 2.4ghz electronics or the traditional FM one? I just ask because recently we just found out the new 2.4ghz electronics don't work with the HL ones.

I'm also with you very unlikely both embitters have failed.
