Tiger 1 (renovated UPDATED)

Bit of a turn up for the book this one, sorted the garage out at the weekend & found a box in the roof, my old tiger was in it, I thought that I had got shot of this one.

This is was it looked like






Sadly I always dis-liked the weathering that I had done, so armed with a multitude of things I set about it in earnest, thought a white wash would be good, didnt want a really heavily worn look but I didnt want it to look like it was sponsored by Dulux either.

This is where I am now.

Great looking white-wash, now a tactical placed pin-wash with raw umber and you have a real beauty on your hands!!

Cheers, only done a white wash in 1/35th before and totally stuffed it up so i was pleased with this so far, as far as pin wash is concerned i will have to research that as ive not done it before and only use enamel paint! Should be easy enough though

A pinwash with enamels is as simple as it is with oils. Take a bit of the thick paint on the bottom of the tin and put it on a piece of glass or something similar. Thin down with white spirit till you obtain the consistency of water.
First moist the subject you want to place the pinwash on with a bit of clean white spirit, this will act as flux. Then with a sharp pointed paintbrush gently touch the detail with your enamel-wash....you will see the heavily dilluted paint will flow around the detail, leaving a darker shade. If you put on too much just correct it with a damp paintbrush.
Don't overdo it, and first start with the fenders, you'll see you wil get the trick in no-time....

If you don't want to start on your (great!!) Tiger right away, you can always try-out on an old model. I have always an old model lying around for trying new techniques on.....The T-34 I use for this already had ALL the colors of the rainbow....LOL
