Re: Kelly's Heroes.
Some early 60's & 70's films tried to get it right, Cross of Iron used authentic kit, way before Bland of Mothers. The 1946 film Theirs is the Glory even used the tanks left in situ in Arnhem/Oosterbeek in the battlezone. I defy anyone to watch that film and not feel moved by the end of it.
The entire British Empire was built on cups of tea ... and if you think I'm going to war without one, mate, you're mistaken.

Re: Kelly's Heroes.
I mentioned before that I believe the Yugoslav army modified the T34s to Tigers.
Re: Kelly's Heroes.
For the most part, most movies do not even try to get the armor right....these guys did an ok job though........

Re: Kelly's Heroes.
The 'Tiger' in the first YouTube looks very good, (a few little errors) but its a bloomin good replica, I would give it 'Barn Space' if they offered it to me for free.....I love the fact that they painted it when it was stationary...hence the pale parts on the overlapping wheels and the missing black bits to simulate the rubber treads......I have to ask though is it a T-34 based conversion ??......The T-34 was rear sprocket drive....but the way that the ' Tigers' tracks 'tension and buck' under drive it looks like a front sprocket drive. There is no obvious drive on the ' Tigers' rear idler as the T-34 and the tracks are correct for Tiger with twin rows of guides.....So I wonder what it is based on...
perhaps a more modern ex-soviet tank....... I'd love to take it to the local town....
for a little drive around.....I am just not sure about 'Metal Tracks' on a road, the scorpion etc are OK because of rubber track inserts... they can be driven on a road with only a standard driving licence.....I think that the French might not see the funny side of a German Tiger 1 parked in their town square.....( Dramatic Pause, for the killer word !!)........................AGAIN...
.....in fact I think that it deserves a double

I agree about the Panzer IV.....The wheels are hopeless...In fact in looks like it is running on a T 54 or T55 as a base.... with the large 'Holes' in the wheels.

Re: Kelly's Heroes.
Guys you worry to much about the tanks, what's with them negative vibes..........
I consider Kelly's Heroes to be one of the best. As hard as it is, being a tank enthousiast, some things you just need to ignore in order to enjoy the movie.
I however do agree about the tanks in the Battle of the Buldge
I used to ignore the horrible flaw, but nowadays when he starts about ''their top secret tank the Tiger 2'' and they show a model of a freakin Patton i just laugh my arse off.
But still, you gotta love the effort being put into these movies.
