Hi from Halifax, England

Post by bigusdavus »

Hi everyone, Ive been tanking now for about two years i have a tam KT, leo and a torro t34, I have recently started to upgrade my KT because like many other people the gearbox was stripped.
I bought the replacement set but then i started thinking about getting a better box and i discovered on ebay the ultimate gearbox for KT. I think this is the link
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-King-T ... 861wt_1396
I was wondering have any of you seen this or bought one and what are your thoughts?
Also i'm now looking at buying a new tank but cant decide on the tam kv1 or the tam pershing, about the only drawback for me with the kv is the same gearbox as KT, oh decisions, decisions.

Thanks guys.

Hi and welcome to the forum Bigusdavus

Can't advice on tamiya as I've got Henge Long. Between the KV1 And Pershing I say the Pershing handles better out of the two but the kv1 is a nice beast.

Also if the fancy meeting other tankers there is a monthly tank club over in Hyde Manchester once a month and everyone is welcome just £5 to cover rental of the building.

I've allso seen these boxes on eBay and they do look good! But I've never seen a review of them yet so I can't comment on how good they are! I'm wonder how geared down they! I'm all for tge tamiya boxes myself and I'm changing out all my tanks to tamiya! As I've had no probs with there boxes yet! The Only thing I found is the king tiger boxes are too high geared! And this can lead to you stripping the two plastic gears in the box! I've ordered the reduction gear upgrad from Steve at welshdragon models and they should help gear down my tank and take the strain off the plastic cogs in tge boxes and make my tank go at a more realistic speed! The gear reduction set cost £59.00 but well worth it in my eyes ;)

Cheers for the invites everyone, i'll have to see if i can get over some time, just have to sweet talk the missus because i don't drive.
I think i'll buy a set of those gearboxes because they just look proper meaty and they are said to be scale speed, i do have a set of the schumo gear reductions and the do work great but i just don't trust the tammy boxes, finally got my impact metal tracks from steve they just look so much better.
