Hello Everyone:
I got great info on the Walter King Tiger. New question. What about a Sherman Tamiya converted to a Airsoft shooter? Everyone says these are put together better than the Heng long, so what if I by a Sherman Tamiya at a good price and convert it to Airsoft tank? Would that be a better tank?

Re: Tamiya converted to Airsoft shooter
Why not just get the Mato Sherman?
You could convert a Tam but there'd be a lot of chopping and changing needed due to different turret rotation and gun elevation systems.

Re: Tamiya converted to Airsoft shooter
Is the Mato Sherman that much better than the Heng long Sherman? I heard the Heng Long Sherman was not that good a tank and was a older tank. That is why i was hoping the Tamiya Sherman might be a better move? I will look into the Mato. Are not the Matos just their version of the Heng long?
Re: Tamiya converted to Airsoft shooter
HL only do a 1/30 Sherman which realy is a toy. The only 1/16 Shermans are the Tam and Mato.
Re: Tamiya converted to Airsoft shooter
There isn't a lot of room in the Tamiya turret and you would need some serious changes to the elevation and may have issues with the turret ring/frame.
You'd probably be better off with the Mato (If it is airsoft, I have no idea) and sink the extra cash that you would pay for Tammy into upgrades to that.
Tamiyas in general, are better tanks out of the box with quality components, but you could bring others up to that standard with some work.

Good Morning.
I've got one of the Mato Shermans and it is a good, reliable vehicle once the usual wiring cleanups are done, etc. I've got the Heng Long 1/30 Sherman as well and and have put up a couple of lengthy posts regarding my comical searches for replacement tracks (finally found and modded to fit) That tank can be taken from Toy status to RC status with time and hard work. The 1/30 scale is a weird one tho. ;o) Now, Waltersons is bringing out a 1/16 Sherman which as we know will be a repainted Heng Long Sherman (which I assume will be released along side or shortly thereafter.) There are pics of the Tank on their website and the upper hull is very Tamiya - like while the lower is a good old fashioned Vertical Volute Suspension setup. I'm very curious to read a review by one of the Tankers here who will own one eventually.
