Walterson king Tiger

Post by hitman1 »

Hello:

I want to buy a Heng Long King Tiger. Then I heard about the Walterson. Is their any difference between the Heng Long King Tiger and the Walterson King Tiger! I heard only difference is the Walterson bag.

tHANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE TIME TO REPLY AND SHARE THE INFORMATION. Over 30 people viewed and no one shared the information. Glad I did not waste my money. One more question. Why at http://www.tankzone.co.uk/cart/henglong.htm the are acting like it is something special? They do say it has a metal gun barrel. Do all of them have metal gun barrels? So this whole Walterson Premium is smoke and mirrors?

This subject was gone over quite a bit last year.

From my limited viewpoint, this would be my opinion.

Here in Canada, we buy the HL KT from Mato.

It has the metal barrel and metal gearboxes.

I wind up removing the gearboxes for replacement with 3:1's and remove the electronics for replacement with an SLU and refinish them in historic colours that I research; so any of the "premium" upgrades of paint and a case are of no value to me and I prefer not to pay for something I won't use

I read the post of last year. At the time the Walterson had not hit the market. So most of the talk was speculation. I have now seen where they are selling them so i want a concrete answer, not speculation. Thank you very much for your expertise.

Hi hitman1 ,
Sorry that I missed this post and did not answer sooner. Both of the 'Porsche' King Tigers use the same molds. The early Heng Long were made of a horrible green plastic and then had ugly brown stripes added. The early Waltersons were the same green plastic but 'better' ??? painted in a weathered but historically inaccurate 'desert yellow'.
These are I believe the only 'Porsche' turreted King Tigers that are currently being made but the best advise has already been given and that is to basically buy the cheapest new one that you can and be prepared for a full upgrade of the gearboxes, tracks, drive sprockets and a full repaint.
I think that you can buy an 'Asiatam' type of lower hull for the King Tiger although I am not sure who it is made by ( possibly by Torro). This hull would be a great ,but expensive, upgrade especially if the tank was planned to be used outdoors a lot. Both of the 'Types' of King Tigers hull were identical it was only the first 50 turrets that were different....but that is a long story how that came about but I can tell you if you want to know :D

I have 2 hl king tigers......one was cut up into my verson of a e50....

and on was tossed togather as a quick ir fighter.....

Like the others have said, the gear boxes should be changed, smokers are hit or miss and hl missed or screwed up a couple things on the tank( like the missing pistel port on the loaders side of the turret) .....the biggest miss on the tank is the fact that all of the "porsche " turreted tanks should have zimmerit to be "correct"....the thing that bugs me the most about the tanks are the poor sound track( this can be fixed with a bendi equiped dburc3 or a slu) and the backwards hl recoil( working on that one).....The kt are the best hl tanks so far imo.

THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO REPLIED WITH A GOOD SOUND ANSWER. One more question what about getting a Tamiya cheap and converting it to a BB shooter? Would that be better than the Heng Long route?
