Hi Dietrich
Thanks for the welcome, Yep the PLA ZTZ99A MBT. By upgrades I mean, aside from metal tracks, I've up armoured with styrene too, to a later version but what I'm after is 3:1 brass gear boxes and has anyone done or seen anything in regards to gun stablization and recoil the later being difficult because of the single molded tube and mantle.
Cheers Damion

Re: Looking for ZTZ 99 Mods
Hi Damian,
Sorry to ask but what scale is your tank ?? and if it is 1/16th then metal low ratio gearboxes will be a relatively easy job to do. You can use any of the 'Rear' sprocket drive gear-boxes and just bolt straight through the hull bottom using washers as spacers to keep the sprocket height correct.
I have heard something about a gun stabilising system.....its just a matter of remembering where....I will look around to see if I can find anything......
I have just found This on YouTube.....

Hi Leo 2A6
All heng long tanks use basically same gearbox with either long or short axle shaft. So you should be able to get 3:1 gearboxes. I went a different route and kept the standard gearbox but replaced the motors with Graupner speed 400 6v these rev to 18000rpm so it makes the tank faster like the real thing. I put a video on you tube so will post a link when I'm on my computer.

Re: Looking for ZTZ 99 Mods
The ztz on this page already has the armour package fitted.
The tank is going to be produced in this format and the armour package will be available seperately.
