How to start?

So yeah, I'm looking to turn a 1/35th scale Dragon models Ferdinand into an RC model, but I have no idea how to go about it. I think all I'll need are the gearbox, the receiver, and the battery power, plus the controller. Am I correct in this assumption? Also, I was thinking of using this: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... XHA15&P=FR for the gearbox, but I have no idea of how big the Ferdinand is, how big the gearbox is, or how to connect the motors to the receiver. Any help is appreciated.

that gearbox would be too big for a 1/35 scale. issue with the 1/35 scale will of course be size, with all the stuff you need it would be better if you went 1/16 or 1/24 scale. there is ready made product for those scale sizes

Tamiya makes much smaller units like this http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/67 multiple rations and their are several smaller than this on the site.The one I LINKED is used for a turret rotation modification in my tanks and others on this site.

This series comes as a Kit allowing single right angle drive and motor with a ratio you select. The frames are mountable to any flat surface, the ratios are listed in the description,somewhere around 1/197 to 1 for that scale should produce a slow enough speed but with ample torque.

Many of the US 1/6 scale Paintball Tank warfare guys use this site for scratch build systems.

I've been looking around for gear info, gearboxes etc, even searching for Tamiya gearboxes but always seemed to end up with RC car sites. That place is just what I was looking for and will keep me busy for a long time.
