I have searched for some reliable sources in books or on the internet, without any success.

Does anyone know if there actual was a pattern that looked something like these colour illustrations?

I am aware that with colour plates, the artist's interpretation and imagination sometimes leads to inaccuracy in historic portrayal.
Glen I'm still looking through my Panther photos, but I did come across this online some are MNH production Panthers misidentified as you will see.

Intersting, and that's not a G, it is an earlier model (experts feel free to say which one ;) )

And it has that camo pattern, I wonder what the story was behind that?

Those are interesting :)

Any idea where the originals were taken?

Unfortunately no, since last year I was saving to computer every photo I could find of German armor online that I thought was interesting.

So they could be East or West front.

I will admit East front Panzers hold more interest with me.

Me, too.

It is hard for me to tell the location of the pictures by the stuff in the background, too
