CFB Borden Armour collection

Post by FreakyDude »

hey all,
Was up at Canadian Forces Base Borden today and clipped a pic of a hetzer. Shortly I'll make another trip and post all the tanks they have on the grounds.
They have plenty of Shermans, Centurions, Canadian Ram, Flakpanzer, Panzer IV, Pershings,Lynx, Grizzly, T34, T55, Leopard, Churchill etc. They had a Panther but moved it too Ottawa, wonder if the wife wants to go??
Really a great collection spanning WWII to pretty close to present day.
take a peek. http://www.borden.forces.gc.ca/998/89/46/91/12-eng.asp
I'll take my good camera and post as many pics as I take but there are so many tanks.
I only live 15 mins away and really never knew this existed, I feel like a kid in a candy store now

Hi FreakyDude,
VERY Nice find ......the fact that you did not even know that it existed seems to be a common trait that we do not explore the area that we live in !...If you had arrived to stay as a tourist then you would have got tourist information brochures and done some research....but not as a local...its strange but, we all seem to do it .... I was as 'guilty' of it when I lived in Plymouth....I never went to the famous sites. I am looking forward to seeing your photos of the other tanks....The Hetzer is fairly small.....do you think that it would fit on your roof rack ???

Borden, Ontario was the home of the Armour School until the 70's ...hence the collection. Go to the War Museum in Ottawa and you will not be disappointed.

There is also a decent collection in Gagetown and another in Edmonton.
