Drive sprocket cap HELP.

Post by Johnnyvegas »

Anyone have any tips for removing the drive sprocket cap on a HL King Tiger? Stubborn bastard has resisted everything I have thrown at it so far, I don't want to drill it out, but destroying it is the only option I see for removing it. I am in proccess of stripping the tank for zimmerit, and paint, I don't plan on replacing the tracks, or sprockets, so removing it without destroying it hopefully is possible!

Thanks Gentlemen!

don't pry it out, try and grip it then give it a twist. get it loose then try and slide a small flathead screwdriver tip under the edge. hope you pop it off without having to drill it.

Had to cut the little raised protrusion off of the cap, drill a hole, and loosen the allen screw through the drilled hole, take off the sprocket, flip it over, and punch the cap out. What a pain in the backside! Oh well, some putty, and paint, and it'll be as good as new.

Still curious about "the Monkey". Have a good day all!
