looking for reference photos of Panthers and Tigers that served in the 12th SS hitlerjugend September 1944, from what I found out the Tigers would have come from 101st heavy panzer battalion.
I am looking for those small unique identifiers that will unite a pair of tanks currently being modified.
I have googled and binged lots of info but I have not found the tank (s) that i want to represent yet.

Hi Freaky dude,
I have looked through my Tiger photos and cannot find a single one that has the 'S' rune and the 'Key' on it ......I know that Wiki can be wrong...and if you quote it in any form of college paper it is an Immediate fail.....BUT...it says this...
At the beginning of June 1944 the division was declared ready for combat operations. The Division's tank strength at this time was 81 Panther and 104 Panzer IV tanks. The division was also equipped with Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyers, three prototype Wirbelwind flakpanzer vehicles, along with a number of 20 mm, 37 mm and 88 mm flak guns, Hummel, Wespe and sIG 33 self-propelled guns and regular towed artillery pieces.
Its tank destroyer unit, the 12th SS Panzerjäger Battalion, however, was not considered ready for action and was understrength in Jagdpanzer IVs
.
Unfortunately I have a feeling that they never got the Tiger 1...only the Panzer IV and the Panther.....but I could be wrong....
Sorry not to be much help but I will keep on looking.....Google images has only shown Panzer IV's so far.

Hey Freaky dude,
Here is a pic of a Panther from the Ardennes in Dec, I know its out of your time frame but thought I would help out. I quite the collection of Pather and SS books, I'll take a burn threw them and if I find something, I'll scan it and send it off. I'm with Alb, I don't believe the HJ utilized the Tiger 1 but possibly the Tiger II. I'll put you on a "Wait out" (Remember that from your Basic Comms Crse?)
Here is the pic

Red Devils, Mustclime and Dietrich
thanks for the posts, all excellent info. I think the Tiger will be 211 as in Mustclimes post because as part of the 101st heavy panzer they did support the 12th SS and this would be a very easy Tiger to model due to its history being documented. Seems I need to move my time frame up a couple months as well.
Leaves the Panther, more than likely it will be a variation of the 3 color scheme.
Dietrich great post on the allied soldiers. goes to show what war will do, it is often forgotten how cruel the allies were because they were supposed to be the good guys in white hats. pales in comparison to the Russian retribution but it makes you wonder what truths have not been uttered.
