Quick Questions about my Panzer G

Post by Zenton »

Hi

Sorry for the double post I posted this earlier in the wrong section :{

Hi

I'm very new to RC tanks but have quickly acquired two, both Heng Long (although the box on the Panzer says Torro?), a Panzer G with IR and a Snow Leopard M26 both are the smoke and sound versions.

I hope you dont mind me asking a couple of questions which might seem very basic but you all seem a nice and friendly bunch so here goes!

Now the Panzer G has upgraded tracks and a metal gearbox and was working fine until Sunday until it conked out and died. I've checked and made sure the ariel and its screwed in, the tank and the batteries are fully charged. I guess I'm going to have to open it up and check to see the connections are still in place?

Is there a simple beginners guide to tank repairs that anyone can suggest or does anyone have any tips as to what I should be looking for?

I've only recently had a go with the M26 and I've noticed that the barrel elevation works alot better than the Panzer as it hardly ever moves up and down. Also when the Snow Leopard fires bbs it automaticaly makes a firiring sound and the tank jerks back. With the Panzer it doesnt do that, it just fires bbs. Is this a fault or just how this model works?

Many thanks

Congrats on getting the tanks especially the Panther G. Welcome to the forums.

So your tank doesn't work. when it conked out what did it do? just die?
do the lights come on and is their still sound?
Does or did the inside of the tank smell funny?
we are gonna need some details on what happened etc to help you out

Hi

Sorry for the sparse details about the fault! :{

The tank just died, it was working fine then stopped. The lights no longer come on, nor is there any engine noise. The smoke unit functions when I switch it on but thats it.

I'm thinking I need to open it up and have a look at the internals which I'm a bit hesistant about as I always seem to botch things up but I figure its important to learn how to fix these kind of faults for yourself. Any help will be very appreciated.

ok so the smoker works that means power is getting through the unit at some point.
Obviously the first thing to check is the plug ins are they all in and seated properly.
then check the soldered end, Are they still soldered? HL tanks are notoriuos for poor connections and bad solder jobs.
Then look at all the switches. As proof I just bought a panther and the controls were messed real bad, I went through everything and eventually found all the plugs in the TX controller were backwards changed em around and no problems now.

If we are good there direct wire the battery to the motors and see if they work, could be that your RX18 is blown.
investigate all the wiring and connectors first though. lets eliminate one thing at a time.

5 screws on the bottom side of the tank to get this beast open. Towel on a table so you don't beat up your tank ( after removing the antanae and any add on parts like the ax and sledge from the top hull. I put the parts in a cup near my work so I don't lost them.) once the 5 screws are out you will need to uncscrew the antanae fastener on the underside of the tank and unplug the top hull wiring. The connect is on the underside of the top hull slightly behind the turret, it's like 3 or 4 cm long and has a quick connect plug. once seperated you can go through everything real easily.
let us know once you ok the wiring. usually this is where the issue is.
