Hi everybody I plan on getting a Tiger model soon but which maker should I buy from? Taigen or Heng Long?
I would prefer the metal upgraded versions over the plastic ones.
your answering your own question. if metal is your preffered then that is what you should buy.
Keep in mind
Metal - considerably harder to upgrade or modify, if playing as is, then you should have no problems. I personally don't own a Taigen but I hear they are good.
Plastic - much easier to repair and modify. you can easily fix or repair this as you beat it up a bit in using it.
You can buy metal upgrades for all the key areas that matter.
either way the best thing to do is research not only the Tank you want to buy but the Source you want to buy from.
Don't let shiny thingies in pictures twist you into something you don't want. Paying an extra 20 to 70 bucks goes a long way to happier enjoyment for a tank that is tested and supported by good customer service. You want cheap buy from a drop shipper from Hong Kong. You want to have fun and use your tank buy from a reputable distributor.
Look at the recommended vendor list on here, good place to start.
I'm not certain about the history of Taigen. When I got into the hobby last year the Taigen tank was available but nobody knew anything about it apart from the sale spec sheet. Then around Christamas time Taigen started making loads of accessories available which was well identical but lower cost Asiatam products. So is Taigen part of Asiatam?
As for Taigen or Heng Long Tiger. I say Taigen because the Heng Long version (even the metal pro version) comes with plastic chassis and suspension which isn't great and you find it throwing tracks. The Taigen has an upgraded metal chassis and suspenion which fixes this. And at end of the day if you can't run your tank you won't be happy.
Hope that helps but like FreakyDude says read through the forum and get the feel of opinions.
Thank you FreakyDude and Tankbear for the information. The reason I said I prefer the metal version is to narrow the list down of options to see if there was any big flaws in them that would change my opinion on them.
