Hi Saxondog,
Those camo schemes are really good ..in fact the top one is superb in the photo....the bottom one is good .until..you see the sharks head..that is a bit of a giveaway there unless they painted it at the rear... ..... In my digging around for this thread ..I found that the Royal Navy had prizes for the best camo schemes and the competition was fierce between the ships....
Imagine the captain talking to the crew.....' Damn it lads....we have come THIRD this time....so lets try out the 3 designs that we like the most and see which one looks the best.....it will only take about a thousand pots of paint to do the battleship over....and we can try the designs by putting one on each side to see which looks the best.....Get to it lads...it will only take about a weeks solid work if we all work 15 hour shifts....Please feel free to call me when it is done......Right off you go then ' ..............

This bit is fascinating....The japanese would paint the decks of the carriers to appear like a Battle ship from the sky in hopes that the US aircraft would ignore them since the carriers were such high valued targets.......From the vertical view point is must have been amazing....but to the dive bombers/ torpedo planes coming in from the side it would not work...BUT...if it fools just one single plane then it is worth it....it only takes a single bomb in the right place to destroy a carrier...especially since I think the Japs did not armour the flight decks......is this right Sax ??...you are the naval expert here mate

Sorry, but you still just don't get it. The Canadian Army Leo is a research vehicle and does make for an interesting rc tank model, which is all I really care about on a forum like this one. Whether it was ever used by the Canadian Army is a who cares.

Again, read for content, the OEM digital pattern site listed above makes it clear that the uniform patterns are scaled up and adjusted to fit various AFVs etc etc. The digital patterns are very workable on vehicles and are gaining some military use.

One interesting aspect of the digital pattern is that it can make it a little more difficult to quickly gain a sight picture lock...be it laser, digital, your eye ball or your auto focusing zoom telephoto camera lens...LOL.

Remember the goal: Armor hopefully offers some protection once your hit and camo makes it a little more difficult to be hit, pretty important survival factors when under fire. So no matter how many Potentiometers your tank uses, if you do not see the enemy tank (quickly and or in time), all your sighting gadgets are not going to be of much help. LOL.

Second THIS one...... Oh the Irony of it all............. ..I seem to recall that Pink is an excellent camo colour to use in the Desert and it may also be good in night and twilight .....
So maybe the elephant has a better chance of not being seen..........

I think this is what they call "Urban camo".Its supposed to blend well with buildings in an urban setting. I have only seen a similar example on Philippine AFVs.

Another thing to bare in mind is that camo, whether uniforms or paint schemes, are only an aid. In the field you adapt your cam to suit the surroundings by adding natural vegetation or anything else native to the area. You can have the snazziest razzle dazzle multi dig combats on the planet, but you'll stick out like a sore thumb unless you add to it.

Same goes for tanks/AFV's. Most carry camnets, hessian, etc so whatever terrain they are operating in, you have something relevant to help you conceal. Things to remember; shape, shine, shadow, silhouette. All need to be sorted to hide your vehicle from eyes as well as aircraft.

Of course, once you move it's all just twigs and branches!
