Hello to you too there my friend.....I am not sure who 'littleboy' is...but with all due respect it was 'YOU' who pointed me at Wiki...so as you asked, I went HERE....

........The link that you are now showing me .....goes to a site on UNIFORMS ..... ( with rather worryingly for all of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan....:- Kingdom of Jordan takes lead in Advanced Digital Camouflage with KA2 pattern, emblazoned across the top .. dated June 4, 2005 !) .....Clicking on each of the Eight pages of these uniforms it states in bold type....
These Camouflage patterns were developed using proprietary graphics techniques known as Camouflage Designated Enhanced Fractal Geometry (C2G)
Note the FRACTAL..... All the Eight pages of camo patterns reveals that every single one is about UNIFORMS for soldiers.....The only page that does actually show a vehicle is in the FAQ section.......
Please look at the images of the uniforms in ' your' link and show me the picture that best matches 'The picture that started all this off'.....
The First image of the Leopard painted in massive blocks of angular colours........Please help me to ,as you said in your post .."get it":

That is at best, a Dazzle camo pattern and absolutely nowhere near a true 'Macropattern' never mind a 'Camouflage Designated Enhanced Fractal Geometry'.......MY brain would not fail to pick it out against any background , the dozer blade even has two equal and symmetrical white oblongs painted on each corner of it ....so the first thing that shot into my 'Traffic-Officer' mind was ..... headlamps on a car.
I really do think that the Fractal camo patterns developed by the Canadians and the Americans are superb, they really are!... the uniforms make even the average soldier very difficult to spot....and the Fractal / Macro and Micro Patterns on the tank in the image that you posted are equally superb at completely fooling the Human Eye......but the Leopard in the first image is , lets say, not the best, example of the art of camoflauge.....I intend this to be funny here and NOT sarcastic but the only environment that my eyes / brain could possibly fail to pick it out of would be one made out of 'Lego-Blocks'.........
If you want to say that it is a great camo scheme, then its your choice.....but battlefield survivability......in country or urban....its a dead tank.......
You must have your doubts about the colour scheme ...because the caption actually reads.....'Canadian Army Leo 2, the purpose, to hopefully fool digital range finders, we think'.....We think !.....
I do not know about digital range finders..... but if the old Soviet Bloc were using lasers from 1978 then its .....spotted, lasered and Dead...in that order and almost that fast !

*bows to Dietrich* I don't know where the years go either, Sir. *chuckles* You're crossing the street one day and BAM!, taken out by the Old Age Panzer. I was curious about the 'littleboy' comment too. I'm rather more like 'FatMan' HehHeh. I've really enjoyed how much useful information was gleaned from the back and forth between you and Pcomm1. I'm doing my best not to read anything untoward into Pcomm1's replies since he seems to be a bonzer whiz at the RC Tank Hobby. I'm putting it down as gently poking fun. Thank you again, Dietrich. )

I 'bow to you' as well there, Painless...and offer my hand to say a 'Good Morning' as its 0125 over here in France.....Finally we have had some SUN ...up till now I have been seriously adapting my tanks so that they could either 'Float' or at least 'Ford Deep Water'........
Many years ago I remember seeing a little joke that said.... Life is like a warm bath..The longer you stay in it the more wrinkled you get !!........and it would appear to be true I cannot believe that I am now 51 years old....and I can definitely see the 'Old Age Panzer' coming over the hill and aiming his sights right at me........Rather unfortunately, my Camo is considerably worse than the Leopards because I was spotted straight away..... I am glad to be of service with all the info, about the camo stuff ....As you say the 'littlboy' has me puzzled and I too am looking at his comments and putting them down as poking fun......I am however very surprised that he knows, that I do actually have a ' littleboy' who is 3 1/2 year old?? .... because I am fairly certain that John (Pcomm1) lives in the USA....and I have never knowingly met him, here in France...........Obviously I am not actually being paranoid about my computer and this screen really does allow people to watch me through it.... .....so I had better go and put some clothes on !!

Just in case you catch this before you go....my point is very simply that the first Leopard photo that you presented in your post has a terrible camouflage pattern. Apart from snow very little terrain if any is actually white....and I can think of nothing natural that consists of large rectangular shapes that are white, a very pale tan and a dark green. I posted that the camo scheme was very poor indeed, and would not hide anything, and also that it looks like the Dazzle camo pattern used on war ships.
John you then posted a reply stating that ' The digital pattern does very well hiding a target' and posted the link to this part of Wiki..

........Which demonstrates Clothing / Uniform patterns used by the Canadians and the Americans.....I then took parts of the link and other information...to state that the camo patterns were uniforms and then showed how Fractal patterns NOT large rectangular blocks of colour can actually work ...

You thanked me for following your link to Wiki and then linked to the Canadian manufacturing company that makes the 'Fractal Uniforms' and you posted the one image of an armoured vehicle in Macro pattern cam at the rear with Macropattern and MicroPattern at the front......I then explained that the site was about uniforms and suggested that you 'Show Me' the image of the uniform that matches the Leopards Camo ? pattern so that I could 'Get it' as you said......You then posted ' I have not the slightest clue what your points and issues are' which is rather odd as you posted the links and I followed your leads...adding my own points as I went......

A synopsis or an abridgement if you are pushed for time is....You post a photograph of a leopard tank with a very unusual camo pattern claiming that it is ' Canadian Army Leo 2, the purpose, to hopefully fool digital range finders, we think....I say it is a first world war battleship camo pattern and it will not effect a digital range finder because everyone uses lasers. You state that it is a 'Digital camo pattern' and try to support it with a link ....all of whose images bear no resemblance to the leopards large rectangular shapes of colour. I point this out and you then claim ignorance of the issue and the points raised by you and of the information in your link that clearly shows the camo pattern to be fundamentally flawed .....I think that it about sums it up.

Having been modelling ships far longer than tanks I am aware of their very unusual camo schemes as Eastern Front has mentioned,they have been very colourful and the patterns at times makes you wonder,the Japanese tried as has been mentioned to hide their carriers, but our own and the Royal Navy really did get creative.
