Hi akina_subtitude ,
Welcome to the Forum,C-rul  I think that you will find the answers that you are looking for without too much trouble. Just as a start can I point out the search box that is located in the top right hand corner of the main Forum Banner....and if you have any other questions then please feel free to post them and someone will come along shortly who can help you with an answer. :)
.
As to the choice of tanks, that you asked about.......It depends on what you would like, and of course how much money you would like to spend ??.....If you are new to the hobby and are not absolutely certain that you will like it then please do not buy a Tamiya as your first tank....They are Very Expensive and also have to be fully assembled from a very large number of parts.
So I would suggest that you buy one of the more modern of the Heng Long tanks, and by that I mean one that has actually been made/ manufactured Recently in the factory so that the actual control unit in the tank IS smoke and sound and that it IS an RX 18 unit. It will look like This inside the tank.....

.
The above picture is the most recent of the control boards, it is certainly the most reliable and all of the components simply 'plug' into the sockets...without any soldering needed at all !
.
DO NOT...under any circumstances buy THIS tank, that I have pictured below ......It is an Old Design and did not actually ever exist !!!.....In the early days Heng Long...'Made' this tank up....It is PART of a panther top that has been made to fit the Tiger tanks hull and wheels etc....The line that I have marked in the photo is where the 'top' is stretched to fit the hull....There are a very large number of these tanks around because they did not sell......They are certain to contain the earlier circuit boards as well so please do NOT waste your money by buying one.
The tank that has the largest amount of internal space to allow you to reposition pieces or to add things is the Tiger 1.....but the king Tiger is Heng Longs most recent tank so it also has the best detailing, with probably the highest price of the Heng Long range of tanks. If you make a 'short list' of the tanks that you like the look of and then put it on here you are bound to get some good opinions of them from the other members.
I hope that this helps you to find a really good 'First' tank.

Hi again C-rul,
I am very glad that we could help you and also that you have decided against the VS tank....Their products as you have read, can be a bit unreliable and the spares are hard to find. The Heng Long is a far more popular range of tanks and the spares and also the upgrades are very readily available. Please do contact us again if you do want some help with the final short list of tank options.

Hi C-rul,

Welcome to the forum mate. I think Dietrich has pretty much covered it, I would only add that have a look in the vendors section before you part with your cash, there are lists of recommended vendors and ones to avoid possibly. Hope that helps a little.

thanks to all those who reply the post
all the above information is very useful to me especially I have to start from beginning (totally zero) I always look forward to guidance from all the members in the future
hopefully we can work together
as in Malaysia, not many people who venture forth in the RC tanks may still be too early in this hobby.

thanks in advance :)

Good day.

Was lurking in the forums and was surprised to find a fellow Malaysian. I just bought my HL Tiger 1 early this month along with metal tracks and gear box. The tanks are available from various shops, but only one shop carry spare parts. This shop is located at Berjaya Times Square. Let me know if you need more info.

Cheers.

Hi, we're just down in Singapore - SG Tankies. We primarily play with Tamiya 1/16th scale tanks while there's a small following of VS Tanks coming up also.

It depends what you want and what your budget's like, I think for casual solo messing about, a Heng Long Panther or ZTZ-99 shooting pellets would be great. But if you intend to start IR gaming, my suggestion is that Tamiya's the way to go.
