The brass ones on the front fenders came from a friend,he gave me a few brass fret offcuts when I started the Sherman.I think they are from the Aber tiger 1 kit,but I may be wrong.

Thinking of the future and the possibility of retro fitting some sort of smoke generation I decided to make the rear engine deck openable.
I made the hinges out of thin brass bent around stainless welding wire and soldered together.Brass pins are soldered to the underside of the hinge plates to provide extra support.




Texture added to the mantlet by softening the plastic on with a quick coat of acetone and stipple with a stiff brush.


Not happy with the way the tools were attached I had a go at carving them up a bit.


Which then meant I had to sort out a way of holding them in place.






The blue straps are not meant to be blue and will be painted,eventually.

        you are nearly a genius , this truely is out standing work, would you do a detailed "how to" in the tips section showing how the hinges are made, this is another tank i cant wait to see finnished

Hi all.Not posted anything for a while now.Not had a lot of time for tanking lately.

This is the most recent thing I have done to it,and as you cean see from the date on the photo's this was a while ago.
I made some springs to replace the molded ones on the loaders hatch.The springs were made with wire from those little twist ties you get with electrical appliance cables,I just stripped off the black sheathing.
I then found that the springs do thier job too well and the hatch would not stay shut.To get over this I put a magnet in the top of the turret and replaced the molded lock bar with a small piece of hacksaw blade.
It's amazing the things we tankers use for detail on our tanks.
I had to build up the material of the hinges as the springs are mounted off centre towards the top.This aids the spring action and allows the spring to go loose at the top of it's travel arc.







Hopefully find the time over the holidays to do some more to it.Quite eager to get it finished now.
