Sherman Easy 8
I'm working on a conversion for the original Tamiya Sherman to M4A3E8 "Easy Eight". Below I send the photos of the progress so far. I have a question: does anyone know how to make the barrelrecoil with servo?

Hi cfredbandeira ,
I am sorry but I do not know how to make the barrel recoil on a servo motor. This strikes me as a harder conversion. I presume that you are using a standard remote control unit, rather than Tamiya or Heng Long. A standard servo would require a signal to be sent to make it move in one direction and then a second opposite signal to return the servo ( and the barrel ) to the start point. This would require very accurate and precise actions from the operator....BUT Heng Long make a specific recoil unit that can be attached to the barrel and of course Tamiya make a recoil unit which is probably smaller than some servos. Both of these unit only require a momentary supply of power because all the actual movement is controlled by a separate circuit with a limit switch so that one 'pulse' of power equals one recoil action of the gun. I have attached 2 photos so that you can see the Tamiya unit.
Alb.......Can I just ask....The 'Desktop' image on your computer...From the relatively small shadow that it casts..Is it a motorcycle ??

Despite the small shadow, is a Boeing 737-800. Before the remote control tanks, I was building airplanes. But was frustrated when an accident happened. This recoil unit works with the original Sherman electronics or we must change the DMD?

Hi cfredbandeira,
Thank you for the reply.....WOW that sounds like a bit of a Monster as an RC plane....can I just ask did you use ducted fans or jets ??...That is the problem with RC planes....they have to land and that can be 'difficult'.....RC boats can sink,or get stuck in weed... but at least tanks are 'Earth-Bound' so that does tend to limit the possibilities of a nasty accident.....
..It does still leave 'dropping' and 'standing-on' though so we still have to be careful !
