TIGER I 1/16 HL Side fenders distance

Post by Willhob »

Hi,

I'm progressing in building my Tiger and I have done a mistake in cutting the plastic side fenders without taing a line or something giving me the right distance from the upper part of the hull in the front, center and rear part.
May I ask somebody, patience, to give me those references in cms?? :D
Actually I'm now bulding the side fenders Aber and I don't want to make mistake mounting them, without having a stright line to follow.

As always I gently thank in advance for your precious replies.

Regards,

Gianfranco.

PS.

Did somebody of you, guys, mounted before the front and side fenders ABER??
It is really hard!!!! I'm using surgical pincers and I'm working on them from 10 days now!!!

They are good and really realistic but I needed to modify several times the original project... >:<

Hi Willhob,
No problem in measuring my Tigers....I just want to be clear since you ask in CM's ....you need the distance that the side mudguards are mounted when measured from the bottom of the part of the hull that overhangs the tracks..vertically upwards...to the bottom of the plastic on the standard Heng Long ???....would it also help to give you the distance to the top of the side guards mounts as well just to be sure???.....If yes, I will tell you in MM...if that is Ok with you ??

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I will add a pic, it easier. Just I need the distances of the thin black lines that will give me the opportunity to have the wider one.

If you want you can send me them in mm too it will be fine.

It will be really appreciate...

thanks,

Gianfranco.

Hi Gianfranco
Wow that was quick... :haha: ...Thank you for clarifying it so well. That is what I thought you meant but the CM made me pause.....
I was just wondering if THIS would be of more use than me actually measuring my Tigers ???......I am still more than happy to measure my tank but here is a link to measurements of the actual Bovington Tiger Tank by David Byrden....
http://tiger1.info/EN/SideSkirts.html
Here are the pictures, but please do refer to his VERY excellent site for the writing that comes with them!!.......His measurements are 'Painstakingly Accurate' to the MM of the Real Tiger !!! and it includes just about everything that you could need..like the measurements of the Exact location of the spare track links on the turret and how they altered through the years ... :O

Hi,

thank you for the several dettails.

I believe I have been not able to explain myself!!
I add two pics in which I hope It will be clear.

I need the mm of the distances in red in order to have the line of the side fenders (in black) .

Thanks in advance for replies.

Cheers,

Mesuring the front, middle and bottom of the distances in mm I will be able to mark the black line of the side fenders!

Hi Gianfranco,
I would agree with Blimp with his measurements with the height being 15mm at the front and 32mm at the rear.
Just in case you are looking for a few more measurements and the kit comes with 'individual sections' .....Then mudguards on the side of the Tiger 1 are in 4 pieces....so that means that down a single side there are 5 places where the measurements need to be known.....These are all from the top of the mudguard to the top edge of the hull, and are the same as your vertical red lines.
.
Start of mudguard number 1 at the front of the hull.............15mm
Start of mudguard number 2 and end of mudguard number 1...19mm
Start of mudguard number 3 and end of mudguard number 2...24mm
Start of mudguard number 4 and end of mudguard number 3...28mm
End of mudguard number 4 at the very end of the hull .........32mm
.
I hope that this helps you with the locations.
