Imo, you don't need any upgrades unless you really want them. The Tamiya Sherman is a fantastic tank out of the box, due to the simple design of the lower hull and suspension it is a very durable little tank. I have been driving the hell out of mine for about three years now, and apart from cleaning the sand out of it and sometimes fastening the screws i have yet to break anything on the suspension.

Out of all my tanks, my Sherman is the one tank that needs almost no maintenance to keep it running.

if your buying a tamiya tank then you will "obviously" be buying the mods too , way i see it if your gonna spend that much on a tank, then you will be buying the all trimmings for that particular tank that tamiya offers to make it better .why spend on a full option tamiya then not upgrade.yes it would be great out of the box but if there was a part out there to make it better why not get it. tamiya wouldnt make upgrades otherwise :|

Just saying, that you dont have to cause it is perfect out of the box. Offcourse you will eventually mod it, but there is no need cause the Sherman drives perfectly the way it is.

I have been driving it for a while, and decided to rebuild it this year to a Firefly. First two years i have been driving it stock, and it just never broke down.

Obviously you will give it your own touch as far as the looks go, but suspension wise and such, there is not really a lot you can buy for the Sherman other than some parts in metal. But with weight you will put more stress on it, and the weight is one of the things that makes it such a fun tank.

they definatley do i admit .....that is somthing i love is the custom part if heng longs and matorros ,the end product satisfaction
but my tamiya leo just had to have the sealed bearings MOD all the way round the chassis it improved performance greatly battery even lasts longer when the wheels spin better (obviously),and the MOD i liked best was the barrel staibilizer i thought it was pretty cool ,then i customed the UN coulore scheme ,but when done i never had the satisfaction i get when you pour yourself into a tank that needs allot of work to correct and mod i.e heng long or matorro i just love making the tanks unique and seeing the work you put in
