M-26 Pershing
Hi Guys
Thought I'd try to do a WWII M-26 to go with my Tiger.
Bought this one cheap on e-bay as faulty but it's all OK apart from non-operational smoke unit.
I gave up trying to make periscope covers after three frustrating hours the other day - I'll just have to save up and buy some from Welsh Dragon. Same goes for mantlet cover. Mine's far too chunky, although it does the job for now.
I'd welcome any comments and suggestions for improvements as I'm fairly new to this.
Thanks
Dave.

Brilliant. I love the HL tanks, you can afford to experiment with them and improve them no end. I also find the shell far more robust than a tamiya
Tamiya: KT Porsche (static), KT Henschel, M26 Pershing, Tiger 1 Normandy, Tiger 1 Desert, Sherman
HL: Tiger 1, Pershing, Pantiger, Panther, KV-1
Scratch-built: Jagdtiger, Tiger (Porsche typ 101), KV-2 (Tamiya, HL, scratch-built)
WSN: T-34 (winter)
HL: Tiger 1, Pershing, Pantiger, Panther, KV-1

Re: M-26 Pershing
I love the M-26. Wonderful job there. I've got one of these and really appreciate companies like Heng Long and Matorro putting the modeling opportunities and multiple vehicles within the financial reach of guys like me. After 6 years my original (still stock) HL Tiger 1 runs perfectly. I left it alone just cleaning it up (flipping the mantlet, scale antenna and adding a fire extinguisher) and doing light paintwork and commander. I get a hoot running it next to my newer Matorro and HL tanks with S&S and proportional (chuckles) speed and steering. It's a blur compared to them. It looks great in Panzer Grau next to my Bovington Tiger1 with corrected barrel and all the goodies. Thank you, Heng Long\Matorro. I may never be able to afford a Tamiya but thanks to you guys, I am tanking. (Sorry about the soap boxing, I do love your Pershing. After 5 years the plastic gear box in my M26 finally stripped a gear but no biggie, I look online and what do I see available? budget conscious metal gearboxes and new RX board that will drop right in.)
Smoke me a kipper.......i'll be back for breakast
