Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
I am holding up for a minute on this build, the weather,my half finished shop and the parts I am waiting on(Tracks/Sprockets) plus other stuff have me on hold. Mainly the Weather,5 weeks of rain every Saturday and Sunday really sucks.
I need my boys to help with the shop and that means weekends only, perhaps this weekend being a holiday I can get some helping hands to assist.

Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Hi Brian,
Thare is a really nice one on the armortek forum for sale fully built by experts and fully modded. Might get a good price as it was recently purchased as an inpulse buy. If I did'nt have one already I would buy it.

Brian I hope she does, but listen to John.He has helped put me in touch with several good deals on the forum,Got a killer deal on tracks and sprockets, and the contact person at Armortek that John gave me the contact info on was great, sending me a Tiger manual for free, and helping me to select the control arm parts individually saving me money as I had the correct axle material and only needed the arm not the whole assembly.
I will be happy to help if I can and SASSGRUNT(mike) has an Armortek 1/6 Tiger from 2003 he will be building so we all have alot of fun going on this summer, best of luck. Sax

Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Hi Blake, Hope the weather is calming down there. Getting a little bit of work done on my Tiger. Just fitting the locks to the wheels and making sure there are no obstructions with nuts and bolts. Would love to get the tracks on.
Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Hi John, That is something of interest to me,Adrian has been great and I should have the tracks in a few weeks. I have almost finished my shop and just need to complete the lighting and to add an air-conditioner. The weather here is typical Memphis almost 100deg and no cloud cover.
The Tennessee valley is the oddest weather patterns in the USA, and Memphis being at the base of this valley seems to funnel all the odd weather down to our reqion. Also Gill has been a great contact and Mike in Hawaii sent my some parts nas one of these was a perfect ALUMINIUM muzzle brake to replace my broken one. He was also able to send over a complete copy of his manual a 2003 version and Gill is sending the current one. Looks like we three will have an interesting summer.
Also I have been working on the decals in 1/6 scale and coloring at first was a little light, but adjustment of the pixel amount cleared this up. I am still unsure of which Tiger I will model, but it will be a Grossdeutschland company, and eastern front.
Regards,Blake

Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
i have been waiting on my Armortek parts and saving to cover the cost of shipping from the UK,but a very fine friend in Hawaii who I shall not name has a 2003 Armortek Tiger Mid Version,he has purchased many upgrades and was kind enough to allow me the spares fromt he original kit that he has replaced with upgrades, Here are a few pictures including a fine Muzzle brake to be fitted on my new Aluminium barrel, which will have the same type of gun recoil system I am building with Dietrich in 2/26 scale but of course in 1/6 scale.
This is a long term project, and although my base Tiger is a Viper Aluminium hulled static version costing 800.00 when new the total cost to date with is around 2200.00us. This does not include any electronics, radio or drive system beyond the gear motors. Most of my Armortek parts were purchased from forum members like my tracks and drive sprockets with the collars. 350BPS which worked out to about 575.00us.
Alot of money far less than the US Venders Steel Dragons who is asking over 10.00 per link x 196 and another 250,00 for sprockets. Through contacts here on this forum I have saved over 1500.00 and I CANNOT GUESS what the parts in these pictures would have cost,at least another 500.00 which as I have mentioned were a gift from another forum member. Also Richie@ WIGGYTRONICS and Gill@ Armortek have been very helpful. And even though HE WOULD NEVER ADMIT TO BEING A NICE GUY,Mike SASSGRUNT sent me the parts from Hawaii.
I will be well below the weight and quality of a Armortek Tiger mine will still be a solid welded hull with an amazing power to weight ratio and as designed should be one very strong runner. If someone undertakes a project like this it is expensive and very time consuming but an alternate to the higher priced version.

Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Any updates ?
Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
Not at this time,my early wheels have been on back ordered for months, recently I was informed that the order has not and cannot be filled. My Armortek tracks and sprockets have been delayed, but should be here soon.
This project has been disappointing from the day I Opened the box and first saw the damage. So it sits on my bench collecting dust.Nothing really positive to post. Unless you want to buy a slightly abused VIPER TIGER 1?

Re: Mid-Late Tiger rebuild
I wish I could afored a 1/6 scale tiger & even if i could it would have to sit in the yard outside the workshop with the type182 kubel wagon, restored mini van & type 2 camper so would'nt realy be the right enviroment for it, but usualy I find when you make a good start on the basics and get the chassis etc all good the rest comes together,
Hope your luck changes for the better on this one
Pete
