I posted a similar SOS on this a few weeks ago... It needs to be grafted on to one of the wires running from the motors into the RX18 board. As I understand it, it's an earth. I can post a pic in a day or two if noone else does. The instructions for installing the Asiatam recoil are like a bad joke! It's worth using a connector of some sort, otherwise this is the only thing which will prevent you detaching the upper and lower hull completely. I used the same connection type that HL use for the aerial...

That's correct it need connecting the battery negative cable.

I've since learnt that you can also pick a negative supply from one of the two wires on the other micro switch (for triggering the flash and sound) but will have to dig out a diagram as one is poisitive and one negative so need to tell you the correct one.

I find this is a better option as you don't have any additional wires between the top and bottom hull.

first i would just like to say thank you to those who replyed to this post.

i have fitted the wires as per the photo`s in the fitting instruction a part from the thick red wire to the micro switch by the recoil gear
by useing hand set i get flash sound barrel up/down no recoil.

when putting red wire to negative viv battery or on/off switch i get continuous flash & sound no recoil

Think you might of wired it wrong. I threw away my instructions as it was asking for connections which didn't make sense and looked wrong.

If it wired correctly and you dont connect the thick red wire the recoil will work it will just not return to start position. if you hold left control stick up it will cycle through it all.

One other thing there are two short wires (one from each motor) these need joining together (or to switch in the turret) otherwise the positive supply is only going to the elevation motor.

Sorry I haven't got any pictures and I did mine 3 months ago so I can't remeber the cable colours and stuff.

once again thank you
i took out the ARM02 unite for the track recoil
joined the two short wires rechecked other wires and one burnt finger later now got flash sound and part recoil
looks like the motor dos not have power to push the spring forward as it stop halfway so will have to play about with the spring
once i have got this working i will refit the ARM02

Make sure your recoil unit is mounted straight (look down spring then barrel).

I found when I put mine in the HL tiger turret I had to redrill the back two mounting holes to get it to line up. Also check the white bracket holding the barrel isn't catching on anything, again I found I had to remove some plastic from turret (part of the bb cannel) as this was causing it to catch.

I found I fitted it easy then spent more time after a little knock trying to get it to recoil properly again :-<

No worries, I've spent far too long trying to get it to work right so rather list everything I've come across and hopefully one of them will prove useful to someone at sometime.

Also I went for the twin RX18 route rather than the ARM02 recoil unit, partly because I had a slightly damaged RX18 and didn't fancy soldering on the electronics. I found it works really well.
