Need Members advice

Post by George »

Hello again

I have an old 1/18 ultimate soldier Bradley vehicle, static with hard plastic linked tracks, no working suspension. I`ve been thinking of r.cing this for a long time. I just found a dual gearbox/motor assembly. It`s from Elenco # 21-131 http://www.elenco.com, its the white plastic gearbox picture under # 21131. It has Three 1:60--200RPM output, 1:120--100RPM, 1:288--42RPM. I would like to know which ratio should I set up and then install in the Bradley. I know its not exact BUT close enough is good enough for me to have respectable scale like speed without it being a race car OR a WWII era tank.

Any suggestions would be Great.

Thanks All

This is a hard question to answer, the track drive sprocket size would be helpful to determine the actual scale speed, but the 1/100 ration might be close.

Have you considered the Gearbox calculator in the download section? You might find it helpful?

Hi Saxondog

Thanks for the information. Could you send me a link to the gearbox calculator ? I looked for it BUT I could not see / find it. Old poor eyes, that`s my excuse.

Thanks

http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/downloads/ Number five down from the top. But their are some option beside that which could be suggested if the space available were known and the Drive sprocket size as well.

Some member have done RC Conversion builds and have much more experience than me, if you could post some pictures maybe and some additional information other may be able to provide better options?

Cheers,Sax

Hello again Saxondog

Thanks for the link. I just found it. Of course I was looking downwards at the various threads for it when it was across the top of the screen on the right side.

When I get my camera back, I will try to post some pictures of this mess I have.

Thanks again for your help.
