Hey guys, I just had a question. What is the minimum wage in the UK?

not much !
•£6.08 - the main rate for workers aged 21 and over
•£4.98 - the 18-20 rate
•£3.68 - the 16-17 rate for workers above school leaving age but under 18
•£2.60 - the apprentice rate, for apprentices under 19 or 19 or over and in the first year of their apprenticeship
I hope this is usefull.

It is not the pace of life that worrys me, its the sudden stop at the end.

The minimum wage in the UK is actually £0.00.
I have worked all my life full time . Worked whilst in last year at secondary school , first job straight from school I was there over 11yrs including 3 years at college . Left for better job straight swap . I was there just over 9 years they closed down but I got a job straight away again,not what I wanted but better than nothing . I was in a none fault traffic accident usual whiplash (that's long gone, I didn't milk it) and slipped disc . I got layed of after 1 1/2 years .I then did a years voluntary work at my daughters school . After this Ive been doing courses at an adult education centre and job seeking . I wont go through how many jobs I have applied for or this will drag on . But now ive been told that I will be put into a work placement (slave labour) and work for nothing . Only good thing is gaining experience I suppose. I am in receipt of Job seekers and child benefit as I'm a lone parent but because when I went through my divorce I decided to live with my parents so I could keep my children and job I am not entitled to any help with rent etc or any of the single parent benefits . All be it to my parents . I cant expect to live there free . I feel embarrassed to be out of work and on job seekers others see it as a way of life.I could add more to this.

Hi mate also in the Uk if your a single parent (but not in my case) and your child is under 7 you don't have to work until your child reaches 7 you also get a house provided . Not every one but a lot of people once the child reaches 6 they have another one so there is another 7 years of not working. I'm not going to label any nationalities that do this but we all know . Good old tax payer .

WOW!!!! Tankman, are you for real? That would not fly in the US!! I just served 6 years in the military and just got out in November. I couldn't find a job that would pay my bills, so I had to take unemployment 
. I deserve it since I served in Afghanistan and Iraq and Im disabled.
This is great because I just started this post to see if the RC tank parts were cheaper for UK residence or for US residence.

Hi Slaychild Yep that's how it rolls here. I should of said a single parent (some just hide the fact that they are not tho) . You deserve every penny you get mate . You served your country and are now disabled . A bit different to those lazy people who do nothing and get everything.
As for prices for RC parts I buy from the UK purely because its easier . However I have bought some parts from the US that you cant get in the UK . I once ordered some 1:6 water slide decals from the US and arrived within the week and as only small no import duty . But the actual cost difference all deepens on what your buying Ive found a lot is the same . To me its just those hard to find parts that seem to be easyer to get in the US . Then the £ to $ value .
On another note I collect WW2 US Army and USMC gear but bought most from the US about 4 or 5 years ago when a $1 was £2 so it was cheaper than buying in the Uk plus you couldn't get the stuff here . I got caught out with import duty a few times . And at that time shipping to the UK was cheeper than it is now.
