What is the correct barrel length for a Tiger 1?
I’m after the dimension from end of muzzle to front edge of mantlet (where it slides in) so I can set up the recoil correctly.
Thanks
Ian.

Re: Tiger 1 correct barrel length
Hi Ian if you have the threaded barrel from forgebear screw it into the recoil in the turret I gave you and you can then measure it and get the correct size for your other tank

I love the smell of napalm in the morning!
Re: Tiger 1 correct barrel length
Cheers Gary,
Yes got threaded barrel for the HL recoil, but wasn't certain how accurate that was specially as depending on how far you screw in the barrel could vary a good 5+mm.
I be putting in the Asiatam recoil in the turret but need to move it closer to the mantlet to accomadate the corrected swivel points otherwise I'll have near no barrel elevation.
Plus need to cut down the barrel as the threaded one is two long as clashes with the mechanism.
So with moving recoil further forward and cutting barrel down it leaves me with very little error margin.

Hope that helps

Cheers Jongler,
That sounds like what I found on the internet (179mm) just that found so many different dimensions hard to know which is correct.

Re: Tiger 1 correct barrel length
Tiger 1's mounted an 8.8cm KwK 36 L/56 gun.. L56 refers to the length which is multiplied by the calibre = 56 X 88mm which gives 4928mm long barrel . Germans measured theres from the rear of the breech. The overhang of the barrel was 211.6 cm including muzzle brake measured vertically from the front of standard armour so the scale barrel should protrude by 132.25 mm. Hope this helps ( I know some tanks have their turrets mounted in the wrong place, Heng long i believe but the final dimension should be the same 132.25)
I'm manning the gun's ! Who's driving ?
