Bundeswehr Unimog Shelter

Post by tenerifecrimson »

Hi everybody,

I was looking for a good size truck to use with my Bergpanzer and my Leopard as a command or radio vehicle. Finally I had found a Unimog made by Brudder on internet. Unfortunately it’s a swb and the shelter can’t really be used, but anyway it’s a 1/16º model and it’s an Unimog 2. After some research I had seen that you have different chassis size and long chassis have been made too in order to fit some command, radio or radar container.
Here is the original version:

First of all: I removed everything and paint it. It’s very easy no screws, just some clips.
The base coat (made with Tamiya spray) is kaki drab, with at some places kaki drab 2 which is lighter than the kaki drab, NATO brown and finally NATO black. As you can see it’s really a SWB.

Now the time has come to make a big guy from this little boy.
I cut the chassis, placed 2 aluminum “L” part to made the chassis longer and finish it with plastic card:

It need the rack for the jerrycans on the side, made from plastic card too:

The fuel tank is made from a kind of “kinder surprise” ball, a piece of straw and some putty for the cap:

Hi,yes the tyres are soft rubber but I plan to change them for less wider like thoose from the Fuchs or Luchs. This one is my test version as I am making an other one and I am gone try to convert is as an R/C version. The luck with this model is that you can hide the battery and m
any components on the shelter
