jerry cans

Hi, Can someone tell me why some german jerry cans have a white cross on them please ,is it for water? Thanks Pete.
It is not the pace of life that worrys me, its the sudden stop at the end.

yes a white cross means water.

German ' Jerry' cans were much prized especially in the desert as the British cans were prone to leaking as they wernt so robust
I'm manning the gun's ! Who's driving ?
