black powder licence

how do i go about getting a black powder licence? fancy trying to build a one shot pop for the KT. is it the same as a shot gun licence? if anyone can help, it would be cool.

Hi jeff

A Shotgun licence covers you for black powder as well, I know some one who has a muzzle loading antique shotgun (and muskets) and that's what he told me.
Best to speak to your local firearms licensing officer just to check if you have to declare you want to use black powder on the application form.

Hi Jeff,
You could try buying 'Blank' firing cartridges....I am fairly sure that you do not need any form of license for those and you can buy a tin of about 100 for £10,mail Order. The blank round might be a bit powerful for a plastic barrel so you would have to make a chamber and firing pin out of metal....rather than the gun exploding.....I am not sure about recoil though .....I know that there is no projectile but if gasses are blasted out the end then there must be an equal and opposite force pushing backwards into the tank So probably best to test it out of the tank and see if there IS any recoil that could cause you a problem.

DanL did it here,he has a post with his KT firing the main charge,he does have alot of experience with black powder though.

Dietrich makes a good point there, I used to have a blank firing pistol and could buy the cartridges without any restriction, I leant it out for a theatre production years ago and never got it back so don't have any cartridges any more, one thing is a .22 cartridge is 6mm the same as the BB's.
Now that's food for thought!

somrthing to look into, the KT already has a metal barrel so thats not too bad, just have to work out how to load it and contain the back pressure. hmm thinking time. just rolling round ideas in my head and getting advice to see if they are workable.
