As RAL color is called normalized colors , which the RAL gGmbH (a subsidiary of the RAL Institute ) under the name RAL Classic sells. Each color of the ink system is assigned a four digit color number. This standardization goes back to a table of 40 colors, the 1927 from the Reich Committee for Conditions was created. The advantage of such standardization is that between customer and supplier will be exchanged only a number and no RAL color samples on a defined material needs. Meanwhile includes 213 RAL Classic colors.

Very helpful colour charts.

Re: German RAL-Color system
Thanks,I'm researching the King Tiger paint work,I have compared three brands of paint, all the three recommended colors and all are different and none match the German paint numbers on the chart?
But the information is building, and every piece helps to complete the puzzle. Paintwork seems to be the most challenging task for Hobbyist and certainly has no uniformed guidelines.

Your welcome but other members as well are gathering alot of King Tiger information, and many Photos for this section and the reference section.
With the new King Tigers available and the need for paintwork hopefully we will all benefit from the information, I'm finding the colors hard to match and the KT's really are not as uniformed as was at first believed.
Many in the field paint applications and those are the hardest to match,if only more color camera's were available at the time.

Re: German RAL-Color system
The best way to use those charts is.
Get the paint you are going to use in the prime colours. Use an eye dropper or syringe. Drop by drop add the mixed colours ( use the colour wheel and colour theory to help you).
paint on a test board leave to dry. Then adjust where needed. When you hit the colour, normaly 5 dots of paint one of those will be it.
Mix your amount of paint you need by the amount of drops it took to make the tester.,just multiplied by 10 or 20 or what ever you need.
