Isn't About time?

Post by caddyshack »

Well Hl..when are you going to bring out a model for us hobbyist. With a set of decent electronics in them. Why i here you ask. My rx18 works just fine.
Well some do some don't. But the esc are rubbish. could list a lot more..sound is well a joke at best.
So come on Hl bring a model out aimed at us the hobbyist. Yes it would cost more. But still cheaper than getting other units and shipping them. Only to find the said unit need to be shipped back as it doesn't work as intended.
Keep the rx18 for the ..oh look dad can i have plz..and give us hobbyist some thing better Hl. Yes it would cost more, but i bet it would sell like hot cakes it they done a good one :D
So what do you guys think ??? upgrade or just keep what they push out now ???

I think that we some times we miss the point that Hl make toy tanks at a very good price! yes they could do a lot to make them better BUT would the cost stop kids getting into this great hobby my first tank was a cheap S&S tiger on Ebay £59 played with it for a bit then got hooked! and started the mods this would not happen if the tanks cost to much I feel.
It is not the pace of life that worrys me, its the sudden stop at the end.

I agree with Humtpe1,

Keep it cheap and mass produce. For the ones who are interested then plenty of upgrade options available.

I agree you can buy a running tank for £60 then spend up to £600 on premium upgrades. But isn't that what hobbyist like? For me I enjoy playing with the tanks but equally enjoy the upgrading researching etc.

Yes agree with you both..
keep the cheap for those that want to start. But then why can they do anothe range with better electronics in them.
Yes i love the upgrades we do. But ..electronics are like well rocking horse S****. to find here in the uk..so it all over sea's. That just put people off alot of the time.
If they sold an all sing all dancing one with good electronics in it. It can just be retruned to the supplier where you got the tank from.
Keep the Rx18 in for those that want to buy that way. But Better electronics in another. then we just upgrade the tank to want we want there after.
Just my thoughs.

Yes I think Heng long are missing the point they have a good product and they could make hop up parts for there tanks and a radio gear upgrade kit! At the least they could make there IR battle system work with the tamiya tanks!! As this is a big set back! And I'm sure would be simple for them to sort!! So come on Henglong get you thinking caps on here and start listening to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh and get rid of the tank recoil jerk and the silly super spin!!!! Cheers

Yes agree having an upgrade to premium electronics would be nice and if mass produced could help force prices down with the competition like elmod, etc.

Tamiya compactable IR would be great, but suspect the RX18 doesn't have the facility for the hit damage etc. Hence why haven't made it so.

good points lads
but dont shoot the RX18 down in flames all thats needed is a better sound card something more user friendly and adaptable
ie can be uploaded from your pc to the tank similar to the YHR benedini soundcard system and beiers sound card :D

believe it or not component wise the RX18 is light years ahead of tamiyas DMD no i hear you cry but actually yes
yes they do have issues with QC on there leccies but at £25 a pop compared to £150 it's a no brainer

maybe if they kept the drive side of things and adapted it to a better soundcard and so we could use an after market handset and receiver?

i for one could never understand H/longs ideology with the I/R system but hey Mr H/long wasnt that interested in Tanks he wanted to pursue large scale Gas buggies  but i guess it's his company
and he really isnt far from Mr Tamiya's ideology of i'll give people what i want lol

as sax has said direct e-mail to H/long does work
we have there latest range of tanks and an improvement overall (Remember the pantiger :{ )

also the mato sherman wouldnt have been born if it wasnt for the likes of you all
the metal suspension and roadwheels came also from a forum ;)

more to come on this i beleive so watch the net in and around the summer hopefully we brits will have something to satisfy our appetites lol :O :O

Plus I don't mind trying out new things like more powerful motors or 9.6v batteries when I know it only costs £12-15 to replace if I blow it.

Thanks for the link Sax..
Dropped them a line..hope they do read it and they are not just short of toilet paper ;) .
It would be nice to see a new set of electronic design. After all these models seem to be a big hit with Hl. Some may wish to just play so Rx18 will fill all there needs.
But others want to take it a stage futher. We as modellers spend a lot of time getting it to look just right. Then on its 1st run out..what do we get rubbish sound. poor esc control. and a spin at the speed of light.
So i guess what am saying is this. i put my bit to Hl via the link. They as a company they have made good money from these tanks. Am sure they could design new electronics and still sell them for much less than tamyia.
Am sure most serious modellers would pay that bit more for this. As it would be the icing on the cake to most. But i guess we live in hope that Hl will do just that.
Sum up..
Keep the Rx18 for the kids..they will always be happy.
Bring Dad some thing better ;)
