Hello,
Many thanks to everyone who responded to my proportional smoke unit question. I'm going to fit it before wrapping the tank up in Christmas paper but I need to know how does one safely remove metal tracks from HL Tiger 1? I'm new to all this and, as it's my son's tank, I don't want to make any mistakes this side of Christmas!
Any help gratefully accepted, with thanks!

Hi there, the simplest way I've found with the Heng Long supplied metal tracks is to pop the plastic cover out of the centre of the drive sprocket, undo the allen screw and gently "wobble" the sprocket off, you can then remove the tracks and get at the hull screws. I have yet to manage to remove a track pin from these! Good luck!

OK, that sounds pretty simple. Thank you!

Still, pushing out on of the pins is a lot less work. Just takes a very small screwdriver and a gentle tap with something a bit heavy.

I agree that is the case with the Asiatam tracks, but I have not managed to remove a pin on the Heng Long tracks, the pins in the set I have just will not move! Easiest way I found on the Tiger is to pull the track slack to the idle wheel. Then with one hand turn the drive wheel whilst pulling the slack with some outward pressure at the idle wheel and you'll find the track horns will then work over the wheel. Takes 3-4 turns of the drive wheel.
Putting back on is just as simply.
Never removed pins on my metal tracks. Have removed in plastic tracks and wasn't easy to remove or insert pin when I had free access.
